The Florida Center for Health Information and Transparency (Florida Center) is responsible for collecting, compiling, analyzing and disseminating health related data for the purpose of developing public policy and promoting the transparency of consumer health care information through www.FloridaHealthFinder.gov.
The Florida Center administers the Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program, provides governance of the Florida Health Information Exchange (Florida HIE) as well as research and analytic support to the Agency.
The Florida Center is also responsible for collecting adverse incident reports from hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, health maintenance organizations, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The Florida Center works closely with facilities and regulatory agencies to assure that corrective actions have been implemented.
The Office of Data Collection & Quality Assurance (DCQA) is responsible for collecting patient discharge data from all licensed acute care, psychiatric, and comprehensive rehabilitation hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, emergency departments, cardiac catheterization laboratories and lithotripsy centers on a quarterly basis. The Risk Management and Patient Safety Unit administers serious patient injury reporting, tracking, trending and problem resolution programs in hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, assisted living facilities, nursing homes and certain HMOs as directed by Florida Statutes.
The Office of Data Dissemination and Transparency processes patient data requests and provides technical assistance, administers the www.FloridaHealthFinder.gov website including training webinars with community outreach, and coordinates the State Consumer Health Information and Policy Advisory Council as well as ad hoc workgroups.
The Office of Health Information Exchange and Policy Analysis produces statutorily mandated reports, administers the Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program, provides governance of the Florida Health Information Exchange (Florida HIE), and provides research as well as analytic support to the Agency.
The Florida ePrescribing Clearinghouse provides information that contributes to the promotion and implementation of electronic prescribing by health care practitioners, health care facilities, and pharmacies in order to prevent prescription drug abuse, improve patient safety, and reduce unnecessary prescriptions.
